What is “Overlanding”?

Car camping? Glamping? Most say it is traveling from point A to point B through the less traveled routes (aka, the “technical answer”). For some it simply means going camping for a few days and just spending time in nature. For others? It’s all about the thrill and going off-roading. For the fewer lucky ones? It is traveling across several countries at a time (a true life on the road!). Everyone will give you a different answer, and everyone will do it differently. With no right or wrong, overlanding can be a lot of things. For us, it is about the journey really. As cliche as it sounds, the moment we get on the right lane and the GPS goes “Keep straight for 200+ miles” that’s when it all starts for us. Needless to say, it’s not for everyone.

From there things might get challenging as we start traveling through the woods or “trails”. But it doesn’t always have go that way. Sometimes, we just end up in a hotel after just a few nights and decide to change plans a little bit. When possible, having options is a wonderful thing, and for us to be able to check out a city, go see the lake, camp up in the mountains, visit a national park, and finally go back home, is what makes us Overland Alvarez.

Quick note: We don’t take as many pictures and videos as we used to. Slowing down, connecting, and really enjoying the moment can be very rewarding.
